Hello Everyone!

Recently a very dear friend of mine was recounting the culture he is experiencing in a new work assignment. He is within the same company, but has been transferred to a different division which, according to him, is like another planet compared to the culture in his old division. In the new division they are a culture steeped in fear. Everything is done – whether it makes sense or not – so that the axe doesn’t fall. They spend considerable time being busy so that they can fill in the requisite hours and not be written up. Any suggestions for doing things more efficiently are met with disdain, because the culture is rooted in the beliefs that  it must be hard. We have to struggle; because it’s the pain and hard work that makes you worthy.

From his human perspective, my friend was disgusted and had pretty much resigned himself to just “get through” this two year assignment. “I’ll keep my head down. I’ll do my job, but I won’t suggest anything anymore. It just doesn’t pay. They don’t appreciate what I have to offer; they don’t value me; and they certainly don’t get the idea of fun and effectiveness in the same sentence.”

As we spoke, I could feel his frustration and anger.  I suggested to him that this is his first assignment in being a Light Being on planet Earth. These are the people you came here to assist. This is the practicum of the advanced course in staying in alignment with Well Being and Who You Really Are, no matter what.

This is what Leadership is all about. It does no Good if you loose your connection and slide vibrationally downward. Instead, you hold your connection and thereby influence all around you vibrationally upward. Like water you drip, drip, drip Well Being into the situation in each now moment, not by words but by your beingness. You stay in alignment with what you KNOW to be possible: Good, Fun, Effective, True – and in this way you be Who You Are. Your anger is the result of your Self knowing the Truth and your human mind being disconnected from that. Your emotion is telling you that your human mind has slipped from alignment with Truth. To a light being, this “disconnect” or “gap” is devastatingly painful.

Leaders throughout time have had to believe in their cause beyond what anyone else could imagine. Let’s see. Do you think the guy who was telling the world that the the earth was round received a standing ovation? Or how about Lincoln who had the vision of a peaceful, harmonious United States where every man was free? How many people stood with Edison as he plodded through his experiments to try to harness electricity? Leaders hold the space of their vision, their Truth, and are not swayed by those who cannot or will not see it.

In the meantime, I advised, you don’t have to just “get through”. You can go through well. You can notice what’s good; you can imagine things differently and feel how good that feels; you can constantly be in hope and encouragement knowing you’re right where you need to be and that your good is at play. You can know that you are sending out myriad rockets of desire for what you will create next in your experience. You can know that the Universe is answering your requests – now look for and expect the evidence. Everyday go through your day and appreciate every tiny bit of Well Being or new light you witnessed. Pull on those as evidence that things are changing because of you. You can remind yourself that these folks are fellow Light Beings that are simply asleep right now and awakening to Who They Really Are. You can be grateful for the assignment. Even though the culture is one of fear, you  can go through it Well. You have complete control of your focus, therefore your alignment with Source. Cultivate hope. Cultivate your belief. Nourish your Vision. Become the intractable Leader that you are.

My friend was breathing easier now; he was remembering Who He IS and feeling his alignment with himSelf slip back into Connection.

This is the only place we have any control: our own connection with Self. But this is the most powerful place of influence, for one connected with Source is more powerful than a million not connected. This is how we create a new world and be well in the process.

Funny, years ago my Mom would say to us, “Don’t sink to their level; why not let them come up to yours.”

Hello Everyone!

Daily I am aware of two things: 1. the world’s view of how wrong everything is and at the same time 2. how perfect and elegant everything is.

Like everyone else, I am a dual-vibrational being. The first vibration is that of my human mind focused here on Earth. With my body and mind I navigate this physical planet, experience physical things and translate them with my miraculous Self. Some things I love and adore, others not so much. All the while my Higher Self, some 96% of me, remains in Well Being knowing the utter perfection of this World, this Universe, and the Laws that operate unfailingly to produce the sunrise every morning and the seasons in their appropriate time. The degree to which I am happy and content is the degree to which I am master over my human mind, closing the gap between my human mind and lining it up with my Godmind. This, my friends, is True for every one of us.

We are growing in numbers, those of us who choose to awaken from the dream of this “reality” to create the one our hearts know to be True. If we had but eyes to see, we would awaken every morning in Paradise right here on earth. This is a time of great awakening. You, too, can be a part of this, because you come from the same Substance as the rest of us who have held the Space of this Knowing for a very, very long time.

I came across this poem by Brian Piergrossi. Isn’t it time you joined? Don’t let your ego or pride stop you. You have nothing to fear, nothing to loose and everything to gain. perception: whose?

Posted by: Kath | Comments (0)

Good Morning Everyone!

Recently I had two opportunities to realize how much our laws bind our movement based on someone else’s perception. The first was a class given at Akron University on federal labor laws. The second was a training being given for substitute teachers here in Medina County. What was startling to me was how fear-based our laws are and how they bind our Natural Response to life. The most obvious one is all the training on sexual harassment, which is totally based on the perception of the person who perceives harassment and has nothing to do with someone’s intention.

If you interview a group of people who have witnessed the same event, you will get that many versions of what happened. Why? Because everyone has their own “learned filters” of human mind. This is the entire study of psychology, the pathology of the human mind which is infinite in its permutation and mutations. Two children can witness the same event in childhood, one goes blithely along his/her way unscathed, the other spends 10 years in therapy years later trying to get over it. Why one is affected and the other is not?

Laws based on perception then cater to the individual’s false beliefs, or mis-perceptions. Explained in terms of the Law of Attraction, what you believe and think is what you will gather to you time and again to prove to your human mind self that you are right. For example life is unfair, men are predators and you’re the victim. If you believe this “fact”, you will indeed prove yourself “right,” because the Law of Attraction will match your vibrational countenance containing this belief by sending you incident after incident where you are in fact the victim. This continues until you are so sick of being the victim, that you take the time to change that belief and stop playing the role. Once you’ve done the inner work and shifted that belief into one that says you are powerful Creator in the world and safe with yourSelf, then you will gather to yourself circumstances and events with no hint of victimhood or threat. It is Law.

The entire process of the spiritual journey and a life transformation is about leaving these false premises behind, replacing them with new beliefs so that we no longer “see through a glass darkly”. Life transformation is about changing this beliefs in the direction of Who You Really Are – powerful Creator of your entire life experience and ultimately realizing that you are in Well Being, if you so believe. Here at Applied Spirituality this is what we do: help you shift out of the old, limiting beliefs and free yourself to live your best life through ongoing group coaching and books with online courses.

eat, pray, love – a review

Hello Everyone!

In 2006 Elizabeth Gilbert published her first book, Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia. It has since been republished this year to coincide with the release of the movie, Eat Pray Love, starring Julie Roberts. I had the great good fortune to see the movie on Friday evening. I give it (the movie) 4 stars out of 5 (my own scoring system) because it was beautiful, well acted, and as much as any movie ever does, followed the storyline of Ms. Gilbert’s book.

The book, the story, is about one woman’s search for her true self, her best life, her authenticity. She wakes up one morning and finds she is living someone else’s idea of a perfect life. Well, hmmm. This happens whenever someone finally begins to awaken to live a conscious life. The big Self is bursting to come forth so that It can have Real Fun, Joy, so the human involved gets to live a joyful life. If you haven’t had this happen to you yet, then you very well might not like the movie. At the very least the movie might make you squirm if you’ve been consistently ignoring your inner Self.

The book is an easy read and told in a conversational tone. You get to know and love Elizabeth, root for her, and wonder how this journey to Italy and her Love of Food and Language has anything to do with a spiritual path. Next she treks off to India to stay at an ashram to silence the chatter of her unrelenting human mind. [If you haven't tried to do this yet, you're in for a real treat!] There Liz meets the perfect people to mirror back to her what the current state of her internal vibrational countenance is. Finally she heads to Bali where she now has the opportunity to put all her internal work into play to achieve balance in the world and live her joyful life.

Eat, Pray Love is Elizabeth Gilbert’s story. It’s well told. It’s well illustrated in the movie. Now,what’s your story of awakening to your best life? Time to start, eh? It’s what we’re all about here at Applied Spirituality. Living your best life in the “real” world. Ya gotta love it (your Life) or it ain’t your Best Life.

what do you have full faith in

Posted by: Kath | Comments (0)

Good Day Everyone,

Once a month I write 4 entries for my free weekly message series. Today was that day as I wrote messages 85-88. Usually I cast about for a “monthly theme” so to speak, but this time it came roaring in as Faith. What do we have Faith in? What can we say without a shadow of a doubt that we would bet the farm on? The Law of Gravity? The Sunrise and Sunset? The Government? God?

Recently I had to have new house keys made. The gentleman making the new keys for me went on an on about how he’d lost Faith in humanity. I asked him if he had Faith in God? He responded that he had Faith in a strong lock. How sad, I thought. How very, very sad.

We are definitely being pried loose from our false sense of security. Every where we look something new is now unreliable, the government, unemployment benefits, our employers advice from our doctors. Our sense of safety and security is being rocked to the core forcing us to let go of our faith in externals, bringing us “home” to our sense of Self.

But even then, most of us don’t feel safe with ourselves. What can we count on? What can we have full Faith and Trust in after all?

There are the immutable Universal Laws that operate unfailingly, most famous of which is the Law of Attraction; but there are others, as well. And there is the immutable Truth that we each are an integral part of this elegant Universe with the ability to master our focus and create our own Reality.

You can and should take the time to become the master of your focus, your spirit, your energy. This is what Applied Spirituality is all about: remembering Who You Really Are, Source Energy in physical format and mastering the focus of your Energy, yourSelf.

Join us in becoming masterful.

freedom + love = JOY

Our Founding Fathers

On July 3, my son Judd, married his beloved Kelly at the National Constitution Center in Philly. As you might imagine, it is quite the dramatic venue, dedicated to our Constitution and its signers, our Founding Fathers. Add this to the national holiday weekend, throw in a military wedding and oh, yes, a funeral;  well, you have many, many layers of Love present all at the same time.

I was on an emotional roller coaster most of the time choking up over one thing or the other as my heart opened wider and wider, letting go of past and expanding to embrace more and more Love – Daring us each to be more Love.  By the by, I wasn’t the only one. Anyone in the vicinity of this wedding was feeling the Power of Love and is forevermore transformed even if just a little.

From the very first when the kids checked into the availability of the National Constitution Center as their venue back in September, 2009 and found July 3 available, somehow we “knew” this was prophetic of something that had the potential of being big, transformative, and profound. Paradoxically, the week long festivities began with a funeral. Kelly’s grandfather, Pop, passed away June 24. Kelly’s birthday was June 25 and Pop and was buried on Monday, June 28. In the spirituality business we soon  know to pay close attention when paradox or irony appear -for truth is now available to those who would but see.  It was Pop’s idea, I’m sure, to prime the pump and get our hearts opening up. By his returning to Well Being – back into the fullness of Love, he beckoned us to reach into consciousness and follow him to feel the fullness of what he is now.

Peg, Kelly, Francine and Aileen at Geno's, Philly

With our minds now quietened to some degree and our hearts more available, we were pulled forward into the wedding which by now had a life and momentum of its own well established. By we, I mean my new family, the Kelly’s. This family is applied spirituality in application. They immediately and without hesitation or reservation opened their homes and hearts to me. We went to the funeral together, to the fitting of the wedding gown together; we wept together and partied together.  I slept in Kelly’s old bedroom, and was even welcomed by their life-long neighbors. I had no idea going to Philly that I would come home with a new family let alone of such heart and quality. I knew my dream of having a daughter was coming true, but little did I understand that my life was expanding to include the entirety of family. How amazing is that? Did I mention the food? Turns out that Philadelphia has it’s own food that one has to try: the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, Tastykakes, and Water Ice to name a few. I tried them all; I delighted in the Water Ice (sort of a cross between gelato and a slushy). Tastykakes are the answer to Twinkies and kinda fun. The Cheese Steak Sandwich was not my cupper with cheeze wiz. But, what the heck, it was so much fun eating it with my new family.

Jarrod and Judd Sing The Power of Love

On Friday evening Judd and Kelly hosted a party at JDMcGillacudy’s on 7th. True to the concept of love including, not excluding, the kids chose to include everyone who had traveled from out of town for the “rehursal dinner”. This was a magical evening of family reunions, karaoke, dancing and of course, more food. Everyone was caught up in the party. One by one, then by twos, threes and even more, people got up and belted out their favorite songs on stage whilst everyone else danced and enjoyed the music. Later in the evening I was surprised to see both my sons doing a duet to “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis and the News and the movie, Back to the Future. Come to think of it, Back to the Future and The Power of Love pretty much describes the whole event vibrationally speaking. It was past; it was present; it was future; it was love of family, country, friends physical and nonphysical. It was gratitude; it was appreciation; it was joy; it was fun; it was delight; it was magical; it was meaningful; it was expansive, inclusive and fulfilled. We were in our Oneness, aligned with Who We Really Are.

On Saturday once the Constitution Center closed, the events people magically transformed the interior for the wedding and reception. Everyone appeared one by one dressed in the finery. Grandparents, parents, friends, cousins, mothers (both Kelly and Judd have two each), fathers and brothers were all there to witness and be immersed in this multi-layered event. The music continued to be the clues to the plethora of vibrations present: Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring summoned Love at the beginning, followed by the The Secret Wedding from Braveheart and the recessional to All You Need Is Love as the newlyweds went through the sword arch. Readings were from 1st Corinthians 13, The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams, and the poem, The Master Speed, by Robert Frost.

Upstairs with the view out to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell the reception commenced. First, there was dancing! No usual order or predictability to this reception. Everyone was bid to join in and did. Later, there were toasts and speeches. Between every course there was more dancing. Everyone danced with everyone in groups, pairs, singles, circles. On the wall was a slide show of Kelly and Judd growing up 3000 miles apart. Judd at the Pacific Ocean boogie boarding; Kelly at the Jersey Shore. Judd playing baseball; Kelly rowing in high school. Judd at Ohio State; Kelly at Annapolis. Judd getting his aviator’s wings; Kelly getting her masters. With each slide they were winding their way towards each other finally meeting on their first deployment to the Middle East on the USS Belleau Wood. On Tuesday, July 6, Judd went out to sea trials on the USS Boxer.

I wish so much all of you could have been enveloped in this. I truly wish the whole world could have, for but a moment, felt all that we felt: the beauty, the healing, the possibilities, the magic and come away changed forever for the Good as we have. Life IS! We expand and become More, which is the perfection of the way it is and the perfection of being natural Creatures – Source Energy in physical format – all of us in this Universe of Love playing in Joy.  Enjoy a few more pictures. And, of course, thanks for reading!  Kath

a youthful heroine: abby sunderland

Good Morning Everyone!

Abby Sunderland, Free Spirit; photo courtesy of Abby's website

If you haven’t been following the adventures of Abby Sunderland, let me tell you briefly about this young heroine. Abby set out to become the world’s youngest sailor to circumnavigate the planet sailing her boat, Wild Eyes, at age 16!

To me what makes this remarkable is not just that Abby is only 16 years old, but that she has parents, Marianne and Laurence Sunderland, who support her, trust in Well Being, and understand profoundly that she is a Spirit in human form having her own Life and Adventures on Earth. This tribute is just as much to her parents as it is to Abby.

I’ve had my share of Life adventures testing myself, but I can only imagine how alive Abby must feel daring to do what her heart desires. What a way to learn to focus yourself on Well Being and stay there! What a way to learn Who You Really Are, magnificent Creator. Abby embodies the American Spirit of “can do”, “fearless”, and American Ingenuity. This is a natural Life.

Recently some naysayers have cropped up to criticize her parents while others are wondering who is going to “pay for the rescue”. My response to these folks is to say here’s an example to the rest of us of what is truly possible when you don’t allow your fears to stop you, which has become the all pervasive American mainstream attitude and mantra of clinging to safety; and as to who’s going to pay? The benefits are completely ours: everyone who gets to assist in anyway has had the privilege of being a part of something great, bold, grand, daring and uplifting to the planet. Since when is there a price tag on that? That’s like sending a bill for the honor of being a small part of Apollo 13.

Whatever circumstances or situation you’re facing in your own life, take heart in Abby’s adventure. You, me – all of us – are the same Godchip at center. To the degree we are truly alive and living our own life adventure fully on planet earth is to the degree that we align with that Godchip, feel the Well Being of It, and dare to be Who We Really Are.  It doesn’t include clinging to “safety” or  the limiting human beliefs of fear, lack or limitation.

Indeed, you, too, can be, do, or have anything you desire; what’s necessary is the willingness to allow that Godchip of yours to lead you through it every step of the way. We know this alignment, because it always feels GREAT, which translates to feeling ALIVE!

My personal thanks to Abby and her parents and everyone who supported her dream. You have all inspired me greatly!

Thanks for reading,

Kath

babies: pure Life Force

Posted by: Kath | Comments (0)

Good Morning Everyone!

A beautiful, fun and uplifting movie has just been released in the theatres. Babies! The movie is a gorgeous documentary following the lives of four babies for one year from San Francisco, Tokyo, Africa and Mongolia. You will be enchanted, mesmerized, delighted and it will give you something to chew on. For us in Western Culture, we can take a few cues.

Children in other parts of the world that perhaps we have decided are “disadvantaged” appear to be happy, contented, and leading a fulfilled life sans things. Shocking, isn’t it? Watch the trailer for two minutes:

The single thing that strikes me about the film is that there is a clear absence of fear in the less “civilized” cultures. The babies are growing up naturally. The Mongolian family carries the baby with them on the motorcycle; the little African tyke takes a refreshing drink from the stream. They are healthy; they are happy; and most notably, they are more naturally at ease than our kids.

We are natural creatures. We live in Well Being unless we are “schooled” out of it by others who impart to us their fears. Often I have wondered that the entire generation of Baby Boomers actually lived to middle age. We rode our bikes without benefit of helmet or padding. We didn’t have car seats or seat belts. We rode in the back of pick up trucks. We drank from the streams in the woods. I know I must have eaten a bushel basket of dirt by the time I was 10 years old. We picked apples from trees alongside the road. We thrived.

We thrived because we were not imprinted with the endless litany of what might happen. We didn’t know we were anything other than safe, healthy and thriving. Our parents didn’t fuss over us. Certainly we were loved, of course; but they allowed us (without television) to find ways to entertain ourselves through out our days. The comment, “I’m bored” was met with, “If you can’t find something worthwhile to do, I can think of something….” which always meant chores. So we imagined forts in the basement of boxes, sheets and unused furniture. We trekked through the woods imagining we were explorers. We drew, painted, collected rocks. We were left to be and follow our own creative paths, unimpeded by television, play stations, computers or cell phones that might wither our creativity or stilt our imagination.

Without all the external noise, we could feel ourSelf moving through us and listen to ourselves think.

There isn’t a parent alive that doesn’t adore their children and want the very best for them. What’s the recipe then?

Allow them the quiet of their own minds and exploration.

Support them in becoming Who They Really Are; not what you think they ought to be.

Keep your fears to yourself; or better yet, release them and move yourself into Well Being.

Support their own knowing of what feels Good, Right and Correct for them.

Just Love and Appreciate them. It could very well be they came to teach us. They are pure Applied Spirituality.

Thanks for reading!

Hello Everyone,

One of the things I have resisted most in owning all my businesses has been the marketing. Marketing in the strictest sense of the word has come to mean the manipulation of your psyche. They do focus groups; test ’til the cows come home, all in the effort to understand how to manipulate someone into buying a product or service. This springs forth from a sense of lack and scarcity. A Marketer is the new salesman. Nothing is more distasteful to me, because I know that people can determine for themselves if something is right for them or not; and I know my Well Being is not vested in you, but that I am my Supply.

Once during my advancement through the Toastmasters program to my ATM Silver, I had to give a speech on Persuasion. I didn’t know what to do about this speech. I was supposed to persuade the audience into something. After much angst, I hit on the idea of writing my speech on the art of allowing people the benefit of their own wisdom and their own Internal Guidance.

Today I was listening to a short video posted by Aweber, my beloved autoresponder server. Aweber is one of those companies that just provides good service, because they care about me, their customer. They are a small outfit in Pennsylvania that actually has real, knowledgeable and caring people at the other end of the customer service line. I recommend them heartily. Anyway, Justin Premrick was interviewing Chris Guillebeau, a very successful online marketer and Guillebeau struck my heartstrings. Here’s a guy who is living Who He Really Is in his life and in his e-mail marketing. He sincerely builds relationships. His “list” are not “customers”; they are his friends.

This is how I view the lovely people who sign up for my list. I constructed my site with content. My thoughts, my views, my encouragements to people. I try to post things that will give people an idea of Applied Spirituality in action – the natural, authentic life. Those who are inclined to live a more True Life for themselves will, hopefully, read this content and want to be supported more in their journey to actualizing that life for themselves. I don’t try to “sell” you my books and online courses or the teleclasses. I believe that if you find support, comfort, upliftment, a laugh or two here at this site, that you will want to be in the slipstream of Applied Spirituality so you become the Master of your Self.

So, this blog is about finding kindred souls in non marketing, Justin Premrick and Chris Guillebeau and wishing for each of you that you find the slip stream that supports your journey into the realization of Who You Really Are – Source Energy having a rollicking Good adventure on earth in the time/space reality known as your Life.

Thank for reading!

hold that thought: the good one

Good Morning Everyone,

Like all humanoids, from time to time I find myself having to get myself back into alignment with Source. This happens when I’ve failed to pay attention to how I’m feeling in the moment. A sort of slippery slope occurs, and after a certain point of vibrational slippage and sloppiness, things start to fall apart in the physical realm to the point where I can no longer ignore my internal state. Then, of course, I pay attention, because I’m miserable. Now I have a lot of clean-up work to do in order to get my inner state back into alignment with mySelf. Read More→
