Hello Everyone!

Recently a very dear friend of mine was recounting the culture he is experiencing in a new work assignment. He is within the same company, but has been transferred to a different division which, according to him, is like another planet compared to the culture in his old division. In the new division they are a culture steeped in fear. Everything is done – whether it makes sense or not – so that the axe doesn’t fall. They spend considerable time being busy so that they can fill in the requisite hours and not be written up. Any suggestions for doing things more efficiently are met with disdain, because the culture is rooted in the beliefs that  it must be hard. We have to struggle; because it’s the pain and hard work that makes you worthy.

From his human perspective, my friend was disgusted and had pretty much resigned himself to just “get through” this two year assignment. “I’ll keep my head down. I’ll do my job, but I won’t suggest anything anymore. It just doesn’t pay. They don’t appreciate what I have to offer; they don’t value me; and they certainly don’t get the idea of fun and effectiveness in the same sentence.”

As we spoke, I could feel his frustration and anger.  I suggested to him that this is his first assignment in being a Light Being on planet Earth. These are the people you came here to assist. This is the practicum of the advanced course in staying in alignment with Well Being and Who You Really Are, no matter what.

This is what Leadership is all about. It does no Good if you loose your connection and slide vibrationally downward. Instead, you hold your connection and thereby influence all around you vibrationally upward. Like water you drip, drip, drip Well Being into the situation in each now moment, not by words but by your beingness. You stay in alignment with what you KNOW to be possible: Good, Fun, Effective, True – and in this way you be Who You Are. Your anger is the result of your Self knowing the Truth and your human mind being disconnected from that. Your emotion is telling you that your human mind has slipped from alignment with Truth. To a light being, this “disconnect” or “gap” is devastatingly painful.

Leaders throughout time have had to believe in their cause beyond what anyone else could imagine. Let’s see. Do you think the guy who was telling the world that the the earth was round received a standing ovation? Or how about Lincoln who had the vision of a peaceful, harmonious United States where every man was free? How many people stood with Edison as he plodded through his experiments to try to harness electricity? Leaders hold the space of their vision, their Truth, and are not swayed by those who cannot or will not see it.

In the meantime, I advised, you don’t have to just “get through”. You can go through well. You can notice what’s good; you can imagine things differently and feel how good that feels; you can constantly be in hope and encouragement knowing you’re right where you need to be and that your good is at play. You can know that you are sending out myriad rockets of desire for what you will create next in your experience. You can know that the Universe is answering your requests – now look for and expect the evidence. Everyday go through your day and appreciate every tiny bit of Well Being or new light you witnessed. Pull on those as evidence that things are changing because of you. You can remind yourself that these folks are fellow Light Beings that are simply asleep right now and awakening to Who They Really Are. You can be grateful for the assignment. Even though the culture is one of fear, you  can go through it Well. You have complete control of your focus, therefore your alignment with Source. Cultivate hope. Cultivate your belief. Nourish your Vision. Become the intractable Leader that you are.

My friend was breathing easier now; he was remembering Who He IS and feeling his alignment with himSelf slip back into Connection.

This is the only place we have any control: our own connection with Self. But this is the most powerful place of influence, for one connected with Source is more powerful than a million not connected. This is how we create a new world and be well in the process.

Funny, years ago my Mom would say to us, “Don’t sink to their level; why not let them come up to yours.”

Hello Everyone!

Daily I am aware of two things: 1. the world’s view of how wrong everything is and at the same time 2. how perfect and elegant everything is.

Like everyone else, I am a dual-vibrational being. The first vibration is that of my human mind focused here on Earth. With my body and mind I navigate this physical planet, experience physical things and translate them with my miraculous Self. Some things I love and adore, others not so much. All the while my Higher Self, some 96% of me, remains in Well Being knowing the utter perfection of this World, this Universe, and the Laws that operate unfailingly to produce the sunrise every morning and the seasons in their appropriate time. The degree to which I am happy and content is the degree to which I am master over my human mind, closing the gap between my human mind and lining it up with my Godmind. This, my friends, is True for every one of us.

We are growing in numbers, those of us who choose to awaken from the dream of this “reality” to create the one our hearts know to be True. If we had but eyes to see, we would awaken every morning in Paradise right here on earth. This is a time of great awakening. You, too, can be a part of this, because you come from the same Substance as the rest of us who have held the Space of this Knowing for a very, very long time.

I came across this poem by Brian Piergrossi. Isn’t it time you joined? Don’t let your ego or pride stop you. You have nothing to fear, nothing to loose and everything to gain. appreciating the past: beaver,pa

Good Morning Everyone!

I just did a whirlwind 36 hours back to my past. The effects are stunning. I have come away remembering some things, but more I realized for the first time how much I gained from those 4 brief years spent in Beaver, Pa from age 12-16. The occasion of this trip was a collective class birthday party held at Two Mile Run Park.

Beaver, Pa on the Ohio River

Beaver, Pa on the Ohio River

Beaver, PA has become a jewel along the Ohio River. However it was also the site of Fort McIntosh during the Civil War.

However, what I value is the great Quality that this community added to my life during my time there, which is still there. It was, looking back, a Camelot experience. In Beaver I had the great good fortune to be taught by a school system that placed a high value on quality. I learned to love music. Not just love music, but I was taught how to play the instrument and had my first experience of creating music whist playing Igor Stravinsky’s, Firebird. At that time three men ran the music department, Robert Jones, Mr. Schwartz and Mr. Howarth. While they nourished my Spirit in music, Mrs. Hughes was busy enlivening us with her interpretation of Caesar’s Commentaries and Pliny in Latin. Ms. Coleson was passionately instructing us in grammar, insisting that proper grammar was essential in clear communications and accurate personal expression using the written word. Mr. Payne was mad about math, and excited even the most marginal students to understand and use algebra in everyday encounters. On and on, each teacher was inspired and inspired us.

But another thing happened in Beaver. We students never became competitors with each other. There were many excellent students. Yet even all these many years later we agree that we were somehow inspired to become better rather than compete with each other. It took a visit back to remember this and check in with my old classmates to verify if my perception of this time was theirs, as well. And it was. Now I understand that since then, I have been looking for this same Quality of experience: Love, support, all for one and one for all, community of appreciation for the individuality of each as complimentary to the Whole.

How blessed I am to have had this Quality benchmark so early on in life. There’s enough for everyone; everyone is Valuable; and Joy is the essential experience be it in math, Latin, music or business. Most certainly this was the birthing grounds for Applied Spirituality.

a youthful heroine: abby sunderland

Good Morning Everyone!

Abby Sunderland, Free Spirit; photo courtesy of Abby's website

If you haven’t been following the adventures of Abby Sunderland, let me tell you briefly about this young heroine. Abby set out to become the world’s youngest sailor to circumnavigate the planet sailing her boat, Wild Eyes, at age 16!

To me what makes this remarkable is not just that Abby is only 16 years old, but that she has parents, Marianne and Laurence Sunderland, who support her, trust in Well Being, and understand profoundly that she is a Spirit in human form having her own Life and Adventures on Earth. This tribute is just as much to her parents as it is to Abby.

I’ve had my share of Life adventures testing myself, but I can only imagine how alive Abby must feel daring to do what her heart desires. What a way to learn to focus yourself on Well Being and stay there! What a way to learn Who You Really Are, magnificent Creator. Abby embodies the American Spirit of “can do”, “fearless”, and American Ingenuity. This is a natural Life.

Recently some naysayers have cropped up to criticize her parents while others are wondering who is going to “pay for the rescue”. My response to these folks is to say here’s an example to the rest of us of what is truly possible when you don’t allow your fears to stop you, which has become the all pervasive American mainstream attitude and mantra of clinging to safety; and as to who’s going to pay? The benefits are completely ours: everyone who gets to assist in anyway has had the privilege of being a part of something great, bold, grand, daring and uplifting to the planet. Since when is there a price tag on that? That’s like sending a bill for the honor of being a small part of Apollo 13.

Whatever circumstances or situation you’re facing in your own life, take heart in Abby’s adventure. You, me – all of us – are the same Godchip at center. To the degree we are truly alive and living our own life adventure fully on planet earth is to the degree that we align with that Godchip, feel the Well Being of It, and dare to be Who We Really Are.  It doesn’t include clinging to “safety” or  the limiting human beliefs of fear, lack or limitation.

Indeed, you, too, can be, do, or have anything you desire; what’s necessary is the willingness to allow that Godchip of yours to lead you through it every step of the way. We know this alignment, because it always feels GREAT, which translates to feeling ALIVE!

My personal thanks to Abby and her parents and everyone who supported her dream. You have all inspired me greatly!

Thanks for reading,

hold that thought: the good one

Good Morning Everyone,

Like all humanoids, from time to time I find myself having to get myself back into alignment with Source. This happens when I’ve failed to pay attention to how I’m feeling in the moment. A sort of slippery slope occurs, and after a certain point of vibrational slippage and sloppiness, things start to fall apart in the physical realm to the point where I can no longer ignore my internal state. Then, of course, I pay attention, because I’m miserable. Now I have a lot of clean-up work to do in order to get my inner state back into alignment with mySelf. Read More→

national day of prayer: a wish is a prayer

Posted by: Kath | Comments (0)

Good morning everyone!

Today is  National Day of Prayer. Seems there’s more controversy than peace over this national declaration, but there need not be.

We are energetic beings, which is to say spiritual mostly, rather than physical. Everything we create is created by thought first, whether you understand that or not, it is True. Every hope, wish , dream, desire, prayer, supplication, idea is – a prayer. Even atheists pray, whether they call it that or not. This feature of desire for more Good, more Love, more Joy, more Abundance, more Peace is built into each of us. We are always choosing from our current experience and by experiencing things we don’t enjoy (contrast). We pray a million times a day either consciously or unconsciously.

The vast, infinite Universe (God) responds to each of us without bias, granting what we have wished and prayer for. All that remains is for us to line up with that expansion to manifest it here in the physical plane known as Earth.

Be not dismayed at what others are up to; keep your own mind and heart stayed on the fulfillment of your dream, and it is so. It can be no other way, for it is Law.

Bless us all, aren’t we amazing and wonderful in our infinite diversity? An infinite reflection of the infinite Universe, each of us being a “chip off the old block”. Beautiful!

Amen.

consciousness and social media marketing

Good Morning Everyone!

It’s a gorgeous cool Spring morning here in Ohio. Definitely an 11 out of 10.

Of late, I have been studying social media marketing in conjunction with applied spirituality, wondering how these seemingly disparate topics merge. To discover this last night I attended the keynote speech for the Social Media Success Summit 2010 sponsored by Mike Stelzner. Mike’s the go-to guy about whitepapers and has recently become an expert voice in social media marketing. I first came across Mike, a San Diego guy, when I was still living in San Diego. He’s an upstanding and quality individual, which is always what catches my attention. Read More→

Good Morning Everyone!

There are countless books whose topic is the spiritual aspects of the game of golf. I personally tried the game, but it had no fascination for me. My father, however, found the golf course to be his place of centering.

This year’s Masters Golf Tournament is a lesson in applied spirituality. The lives of the principles are in public view for all to see, evaluate and make observations – if one is willing to see with “new eyes” and a loving heart.

Tiger Woods - Spiritual Warrior

Obviously everyone was watching Tiger Woods‘ return to the game. But what did you see? A man struggling to transform his understanding of himself? Did you see a divine being endeavoring to awaken from his illusion that he is the sum of his beliefs about himself? As Tiger is relentlessly maligned in the press, I am awed by his courage whilst simultaneously I am dismayed at the readiness of folks to pounce, criticize and “catch” him being less than perfect. We have no mercy on our fallen heroes. Yet, for all to witness, Tiger is in the process of examining his life, living his life, and expanding his consciousness. He is smack dab in the midst of life transformation, which is a messy business. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Our attention was then diverted to Phil Mickelson who was this year’s winner. Our sympathies were appealed to because his wife, Amy, is having her own awakening through the experience of cancer. Somehow we are able to open our hearts to those of us with a physical dis-ease, but we have no ability to open our hearts to those of us struggling with emotional dis-ease; an affliction, by the way, that affects each and every one of us. Whether physical or emotional.

Amy & Phil Mickelson - Spiritual Warriors

The beautiful picture of Phil and Amy in embrace at the conclusion of the tournament is the outcome of two people who have been brought to their knees through a life circumstance; and by opening their hearts to themselves and each other, are coming through it with more love able to be expressed in their physical lives.

Tiger and Phil have much in common besides the game of golf. Both are facing painful life situations. These “cosmic gooses” are the catalysts that can provide us with the opportunity to grow and propel us into a higher awareness of Who We Really Are if we are willing. The situations are the same: a painful life situation experienced by a human who has forgotten his own divinity and whose only remedy for transformation and meaning is Love.

We are directed to Love one another as we Love our self. This loving our self seems to be the place where we each have the most growing to do. It’s True Nature is unconditional.

Wolves: Much Maligned, Very Endangered

Posted by: Kath | Comments (0)

Hello Everyone,

“Perhaps it was the eyes of the wolf, measured, calm, knowing. Perhaps it was the intense sense of family. After all, wolves mate for life, are loyal partners, create hunting communities and demonstrate affectionate patience in pup rearing. Perhaps it was the rigid hierarchy of the packs. Each wolf had a place in the whole and yet retained his individual personality. Perhaps it was their great, romping, ridiculous sense of fun. Is it any wonder that the myths of many tribes characterize the wolves not as killers, but as teachers?” ~ unknown

Normally I don’t get involved with causes, however the plight of the wolf is near and dear to me, because I have first hand experience and knowledge. For several years I lived in Montana. Actually, it was just when wolves were being re-introduced into Yellowstone. Talk around Montana bars and grocery stores was all about how terrible, awful, and scary this action by the government was going to be. I never took to participate in these conversations, but I did listen very carefully. What was clear to me was the tone was driven by irrational fear. Something deep in the psyche was being triggered.

In fact, more sheep are lost by disease and domesticated dogs than by wolves. Amongst ranchers a common defense against predators is to add a mule or donkey into the herd. These creatures make such a fuss and can kick up a storm. The real mean, spirited drive, though, is to exterminate them as useless, foul, and loathsome creatures. Misunderstood for centuries, the wolf is now recognized as a vital part of the ecosystem. For further illumination about how vital predators are to the ecosystem, please read my favorite book, Prodigal Summer: A Novel, by Barbara Kingsolver.

I also invite you to watch, Never Cry Wolf
, a story written by Farley Mowat and made into a film in 1983 where one man’s observation of wolves in the wilderness changes his mind about them forever.

Please contact the White House today. All it requires is for President Obama to say the word and replace the wolves back onto the endangered species list to halt the wholesale slaughter which is taking place right now.

Applied spirituality is all about growing your consciousness up so that you can actually choose a behavior rather than being subject to a knee-jerk response out of irrational fears and false beliefs. The deeper truth here is that there is not only room enough for all of us on this planet, but we each, wolves included, have an integral and important role to play. We are all God here. All of us, and all of them, too.

Now get to know the wolf, courtesy National Geographic.

In Everything Give Thanks

Good Morning Everyone!

I’ve been re-reading Jan Karon’s books, the Mitford Series. I love these books because they soothe me, and they are absolutely examples of Applied Spirituality in action. They are beautifully written with fictional characters that you come to love for all their foibles as well as their gifts. I finished book seven in the series, In This Mountain, where Father Tim is going through a dark night of the soul; in his case it is in the form of a deep depression. He wonders about it; he prays to be delivered from it. Yet, it continues until he finally asks the right question.

When dark and troubling things happen to us, the most important thing is to ask the right question. The right question is not, “Why me?” Rather, the right question allows you to grow through the experience and come out the other side back into the Light of Life. The right question gives space and take out the sting of a “personal hit”.

We are all coming to understand slowly that it is indeed true that we create the whole of our own reality via the Law of Attraction. It’s tough to formulate the right question when you’re in the midst of a terrible medical diagnosis, or about to lose your home, or you’ve gotten fired/laid off from your job. However, this is what you must do.

It is the perfect time to ask the right question. How is this my Good at play? How is this a blessing? How am I to grow my self up by this blessing?

It’s easy to give thanks for all the good things we have in our lives; and it is and should be your daily practice to tally up and appreciate all the lovely blessings daily with a deep appreciation. The challenge here is to appreciate and give thanks for the the Cosmic 2 x 4 that just smacked you upside the head.”Thank you for the sadness I feel at my dog’s passing. How is this event a blessing to me? Show me how this will help me grow to include more Love within myself. Show me the Truth of this event. Help me see how this is my Good at play. Show me the way.”

You can do this if you understand this event or circumstance is on your path, your Good Path. It’s a bump in your road; it’s here to show you what beliefs/behaviors you need to release so you can continue on your path in joy – expanded. In this way, you don’t have to go searching around for “what’s my problem”, or “how come things just don’t work out for me”. It’s here. This blessing, this gift of information is here as a gift to help you release what blocks you from realizing your Good.

Abraham refers to this as appreciating the contrast as much as you appreciate the Good stuff. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 we are told “In every thing give thanks.” Practice blessing each unpleasant thing: appreciate that this has come to free you from a viewpoint that no longer serves you. Sit with the right question; allow the answer to illuminate to you the next step on your path to liberating yourself. This, is growing your consciousness – consciously.

Starting April 5, 2010, Applied Spirituality is offering an 8-week course: Your Users Manual: Getting the Life You Want. You’ll learn a whole new way to interpret every day life events for your personal growth and expansion. You’ll also learn how to see the blessings in everything you are now afraid of.

Thanks for reading!
